Even after emerging as the obvious winner of the crowded Sankranti clash of 2024, the mythological superhero film HanuMan is refusing to show any alarming drops at the box office. Headlined by Teja Sajja, the film remained steady on its second Tuesday, as it netted Rs 4.25 cr according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
The second Tuesday collections of the Prasanth Varma directorial, which was released on January 12 and seen as an underdog against Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, were half of its opening day collections of Rs 8.5 cr. Though the figures have seen a decline, the film has already amassed Rs 143 cr. In another two days, the film is likely to touch the Rs 150 cr domestic mark. On the worldwide front, the film has already crossed Rs 200 cr, with its current collections standing at Rs 218 crore, according to analyst Manobala Vijayabalan.

Of its total India collections, more than Rs 35 cr has come from the Hindi version, with its original Telugu version clocking more than Rs 100 cr. HanuMan’s Hindi collections will now likely take a dent from Thursday onwards, as the Hrithik Roshan-Deepika Padukone-starrer Fighter arrives on the big screen. Though its screen count and showcasing will take a hit, considering that the film has found acceptance, it will also benefit hugely from the upcoming Republic Day weekend.
HanuMan is set in a fictional land Anjanadri, where Hanumanthu (Sajja), a petty thief gets the powers of Lord Hanuman. To save the people of Anjanadri, he faces off against Michael, who yearns to possess a power that would make him a formidable superhero.
The film marks the beginning of a cinematic universe, and Prasanth Varma has already planned two follow-ups — Jai Hanuman and Adhira, reported PTI.
