After exploring New Delhi’s chole bhature hotspots, actors Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi, along with their son Ayushmann, recently set out across Mumbai in search of the city’s best “Bombay” sandwich.

A lot of stories and bad dad jokes by Parmeet were a part of this entire journey as the trio went to three different sandwich shops to decide which one was the best. The first location was Ideal Sandwich, located at Nariman Point. The shopkeeper, who had been running the place for 32 years, made two different kinds of sandwiches for them: one was the classic Bombay sandwich, and the other was a chilli cheese sandwich. Between several debates about whether a sandwich should be grilled or not, the trio gulped down both the sandwiches and then took off for the next location.

Situated near KC College in Churchgate, Raju Sandwich Shop was the next spot to be tested. While on the way to Churchgate, Archana’s car passed Marine Drive, which instantly brought out a lot of old memories for her. “This place always brings back memories of the days when I was still struggling. Back then, there used to be a lot of modelling and ad agencies in Nariman Point and Marine Drive. I was trying to become a model, and we used to go from agency to agency with our photos because there was no technology available using which you could just send your pictures,” reminisced Archana.

Her son Ayushmaan pointed out that those struggling days built her character and gave her a lot of stories which she could later tell to her children. Archana interjected and said, “Now it’s your job to work hard and collect stories for the upcoming generation.” Ayushmaan continued, “If I have such a beautiful face, my struggle is also bound to be beautiful.” Archana laughed at the remark and said that he too has learnt how to deliver film-like dialogues. Ayushmaan then asked her for a role, to which she replied, “I wish it was that easy,” and started laughing.

The last destination on the list was Lucky Sandwich Shop in Ville Parle, which had been in operation since 1981. The trio again asked the owner about his story and how the shop came to be, and he told them that it was actually started by his father, and now he looks after it while also juggling a career in graphic designing.

Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi even posed for pictures with young fans on the street and told them to subscribe to their YouTube channel. Parmeet even said, “Sharam bilkul nahi aani chahiye (There should be no shame in this). We are working very hard for this (YouTube).”
