Netflix’s latest offering Adolescence is gaining attention for all the right reasons. The British crime drama, directed by Philip Barantini, has impressed several Indian personalities. The latest to join the list is Alia Bhatt. On Friday, the actor took to her Instagram handle to express her excitement after watching the series.

Her note read, “This show is truly perfection. From the writing to the staging to the exceptional cinematography.” Given each episode of the show was filmed in a single continuous take, Alia Bhatt said she wonders, “What it felt like when after an hour of calling action — to finally calling cut… how did the entire cast and crew feel?”

She added, “The performance by each and every person that has walked into frame and our was alive… real raw and so so hot in the moment that the energy is very palpable and so moving. The magic of storytelling and an entire crew coming together to deliver, every department giving nothing but their heart and soul to every second on screen. I am in awe!”

Previously, Hansal Mehta took to his X handle to praise Adolescence. He wrote, “I was devastated by Adolescence on Netflix — so much so that I had to write this follow-up post about it, particularly about the final two episodes,” Mehta wrote, adding that episodes three and four hit him the hardest. According to him, the show’s impact went “beyond the procedural, outside any semblance of mystery, and beyond any genre-defined cliché.”

In another development, Gangs of Wasseypur director Anurag Kashyap expressed his disappointment in Netflix India. He said in his social media post, “Netflix.in is a totally opposite shitshow. If they were pitched this, most probably they would have rejected it or turned it into a 90 minute film (that too seems like an impossibility because it doesn’t have an ending that is black and white).”
