Akshay Kumar’s Padman is surely one of the projects his fans are looking forward to. After introducing his character and the two women who helped him reach his goals, the actor has headed to New York to shoot for the film. Akshay is shooting with Sonam in New York.

Sonam headed to New York after wrapping up the second schedule of her upcoming film, Veere Di Wedding. The actor was in Phuket with sister and producer Rhea Kapoor, and co-stars Swara Bhasker, Sumeet Vyas and Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Sharing her experience of working with Akshay, Sonam wrote, “Such a pleasure working with the indomitable Akshay Kumar. He was the perfect person to play the role of #Padman and has brought a sense of humour and love to the film. Of course, none of these would have been possible without the humble visionary #Rbalki 🙌 @PadManTheFilm.”

Some fan pages have posted pictures of the actors with director R Balki.

Inspired by the life of Coimbatore-based Arunachalam Muruganantham, who found a way to make cheap, affordable sanitary napkins for women in his village, PadMan features an ensemble of actors like Akshay, Sonam and Radhika Apte. The film will also have a cameo of Amitabh Bachchan.

R Balki, whose last outing as a director was 2015 release Ki and Ka, said that this project is going to be as interesting as Sholay. In an interview earlier, the director said, “His (Muruganantham’s) life itself is equal to ‘Sholay’. It is as entertaining as the biggest masala entertainers… And when you have a life that is so entertaining, why do I need to add entertainment.”

The film is scheduled to release on January 26th, 2018.
