Aamir Khan, who is getting ready for the Oscar campaign of Laapataa Ladies, recently shared an update about his next film Sitaare Zameen Par. The film was previously scheduled for a release in December 2024 but now, Aamir has shared that the film will be out in the middle of 2025. He also spoke about his other upcoming production ventures and shared that he already has plans to star in his next film after Sitaare Zameen Par.
Talking to Deadline at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, Aamir talked about Sitaare Zameen Par and said, “We are coming to the post production later this month. We would be ready to release the film in the middle of next year.” While Aamir called this film a sequel of the 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, he clarified that the film wouldn’t have the same characters. “It’s a fresh set of characters, completely fresh situation and plot. Thematically, it is a sequel to Taare Zameen Par,” he said.
Aamir also spoke about his other production ventures under his banner. He spoke about making Lahore 1947 with director Rajkumar Santoshi and actor Sunny Deol. He also shared that he is producing his son Junaid Khan’s upcoming film, which also stars Sai Pallavi. The film is titled Ek Din. Aamir shared that his third production is the film he is acting in, but he did not give any details about it. Talking about his fourth production, Aamir said that it is an Austin Powers-like film being written, directed by Vir Das. Vir will also be starring int he film.
Aamir, in a recent appearance on KBC 16, spoke about his son Junaid and his film choices. Junaid made his debut with Netflix’s Maharaj this year. Aamir said that since Junaid had failed in many screen tests, he wanted him to travel the country to learn more about his culture. He also said that he did not want Junaid to take up Maharaj. “Initially, I had advised Junaid not to do the film since he had undergone multiple screen tests and faced rejections each time. However, he was selected for Maharaj, and I thought he shouldn’t take it,” he said.
