Income Tax searches properties of Taapsee Pannu, Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl

The Income Tax Department on Wednesday conducted searches against production houses and event management companies linked to actress Taapsee Pannu, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl, and Madhu Mantena at over 30 premises in Mumbai and Pune over alleged tax evasion.
Premises of production company Phantom Films and an event management company associated with the filmmakers have been searched since this morning, a senior income tax department official said.

“There have been instances of tax evasion. The movies produced by the production house have been superhit, but the profits and account statements of the company are showing disproportionately low income,” an official told The Indian Express.
“The searches are not against the individuals but against the entities where they hold a share or are directors,” the official said.
Kashyap and Pannu have been critical about some of the recent central government policies, especially during the farmers’ agitation.
