The Bandra police have booked a manager of a café owned by Bollywood actor Jibraan Firoz Khan for allegedly cheating the business of Rs. 35 lakh. The investigation is still on however, there have been no arrests so far.
Rawat, who has been working as the general manager at Grounded Café for the past three years, was responsible for handling daily cash deposits. The café is located on BJ Road near Mount Mary, Bandra West.
According to police, the 32-year-old actor, who resides in Jyoti Sadan building on BJ Road, lodged the complaint. He alleged that customers paid their bills via cash or online payment, and the cash was supposed to be deposited daily in the bank by Rawat.
Suspicion arose on September 19, when the store manager was supposed to collect cash from Rawat to pay vendors and Rawat had gone on leave without handing over the cash or informing the store manager. Upon his return on September 22, he was confronted but failed to provide satisfactory explanations, said a police officer.
Khan then asked his chartered accountant to audit the café’s accounts. The audit, covering April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, revealed that only Rs. 79.67 lakh of the café’s total cash income of Rs. 1.14 crore was deposited in the bank. The remaining amount, Rs. 34.99 lakh, was missing from bank deposits.
Following these findings, Khan approached the Bandra police on September 23, who verified the details and registered a case against Rawat under Section 406/420 of the BNS (criminal breach of trust and cheating). As per officials, an arrest is expected soon.
