A police constable has been sacked from the police force for allegedly getting himself recruited in the force by falsely claiming to be a government project-affected person.
An official confirmed on Friday that Alam Nizam Sheikh, who was attached to the Naigaon Local Arms Division, was terminated from police service following orders issued by DCP LA Naigaon nearly 10 days ago.
Sheikh was earlier booked and subsequently arrested by Thane police for submitting a fake certificate to get himself recruited into the force.
The Thane Police Commissionerate in 2021 started a recruitment process for 521 policemen’s posts. For this, a public advertisement was published in 2022. Out of the total posts, 27 posts were reserved for government project-affected victims.
Sheikh had submitted a fake certificate to get recruited under this reserved quota.
He was recruited under the seats reserved for project-affected people.
However, when his certificate (of project-affected people) was verified, it was revealed that the Sheikh’s certificate was not issued by the Beed District Magistrate’s Office.
Also, there was no such record in the District Magistrate’s Office. After getting an adverse report from the Beed District Magistrate’s Office,
Thane police had registered a case against Sheikh last year. The case was registered on charges of cheating by submitting fake documents.
In that case, the police had also arrested Sheikh on January 21 this year. Later, Sheikh was granted bail. Sheikh was currently posted with the Naigaon Armed Police division. After a departmental inquiry, Sheikh was terminated from service, said a police officer.
