Kirit Somaiya case: TV channel provides police one video

Based on the letter, the channel sent them one video clip which it had aired. After the issue was raised in Vidhan Parishad by Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders Ambadas Danve and Anil Parab, Danve had also provided a pen drive to Deputy Chairperson Neelam Gorhe. Danve had said that the pen drive had 34 clips with a duration of eight hours.

When asked about seeking clips from the House, the source said that it would involve certain protocol to obtain it. The source said that so far nobody has come forward to give any complaint in the matter even after a plea was made to that effect in the Vidhan Parishad on the day of the discussion. On Tuesday, Fadnavis announced a high-level probe in the case after the issue was raised by the Leader of Opposition in the Upper House Ambadas Danve. Fadnavis had said, “It is indeed a serious issue. We will conduct a detailed inquiry. The woman in the video will be identified. Police will be told. Nobody will be protected.”

Danve had said, “A leader who claims to be close to ED, CBI and now I have some videos with me of him. I salute the woman who gave me the videos. The person has CISF protection. Whether the woman was being extorted? Eight hours of videos are there with me. Will give it to the deputy chairperson. Incident of women being extorted has come to the fore. The leader’s name is Kirit Somaiya.”
