Podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia failed to appear before the Khar police in Mumbai on Friday despite a second summons being served to him in connection with the ‘insensitive and vulgar’ jokes made during India’s Got Latent show recently.

A police officer confirmed to The Indian Express that Allahbadia was supposed to visit the Khar police station on Thursday. But he did not come and his team assured them that he would come to the police station on Friday. However, he again failed to join the inquiry.

A team from the Khar police station was sent to his Versova residence after Allahbadia failed to turn up for the second time. A team from the Assam Police, which is also Investigating a criminal complaint against Allahbadia, also accompanied the Khar police team. However, Allahbadia’s residence was found to be locked. The police have pasted a notice outside his residence asking him to appear before them soon.

A police officer said that Allahbadia’s lawyer, too, was not reachable.

Following the uproar over the viral clip of India’s Got Latent show, first, the Assam Police and then the Maharashtra cyber police registered separate FIRs against Allahbadia, content creator Ashish Chanchlani, influencer Apoorva Mukhija, the show’s creator Samay Raina, and others, for allegedly making obscene content and broadcasting it on YouTube.

The Khar police, too, commenced an inquiry after receiving multiple complaints. So far, the Khar police have summoned the five judges of the show including Allahbadia and Raina. The police have recorded statements from over a dozen people including Chanchlani, and Mukhija.

The Maharashtra cyber police have also summoned nearly 59 people including all the judges, participants, and others who were part of the episodes where ‘foul language’ was used. On Thursday, only Raghu Ram responded to the summons, and his statement was recorded.
