Free vaccination camp for pets
Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) will organise a free anti-rabies and deworming camp in the Veterinary Clinical Complex for pets on the eve of World Veterinary Day on Friday from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. All pet owners are requested to avail the facility to safeguard their pets against rabies. Dr Simrat Sagar Singh,Dean College of Veterinary Science,said this years theme is One World,One Health: More co-operation between veterinarians and physicians. A lecture by senior scientist Dr K Dua will be delivered at 3 pm in the Silver Jubilee Auditorium.
CIPHET launches radio show for farmers
The Central Institute of Post Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET) in collaboration with All India Radio,Jalandhar,is going to launch a agriculture programme titled Do Dooni Char. CIPHET Director Dr R T Patil and Head,Transfer of Technology (ToT) Division,Dr Deepak Raj Rai said the programme would be targeted at developing entrepreneurship among the rural youth. Farmers and the rural population of Punjab and surrounding states would be made aware about the various post harvest technologies developed by CIPHET. Ten shows from May 5 will be aired every Wednesday at 6.45 pm on All India Radio,Jalandhar,till July 7.
Aptitude test for engineering aspirants
A large number of engineering aspirants appeared for the Engineering Aptitude and Scholarship Test (EAST) conducted at the Gulzar Group of Institutes in Khanna today. The test comprised of multiple choice questions on the pattern of the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE). Before the test,experts explained the methodology to attempt such question papers. According to Gurkirat Singh,Executive Director of the institutes,the test was aimed to help students prepare for the final entrance tests and also to identify needy and meritorious students. Such students will get financial help to complete their engineering,he said.
Dakha MLA lists out achievements
Dakha MLA Darshan Singh Shivalik claimed to have got 31 acres land in Noorpur village freed from encroachment. He said the land is now in possession of the village panchayat. Wheat was sown on this land this time and the annual income will be Rs 9 lakh, he said on Thursday. He also listed out his achievements in his constituency and said much ahead of the coming elections,he has started focussing on his new constituency Gill. Addressing the media,he said,In Gill,I have already started the repair work of roads that connect 59 villages.
Small industries representatives meet Financial Services Secretary
A deputation of Federation of Tiny and Small Industries of India,headed by its president Joginder Kumar,met R Gopalan,Secretary,Financial Services on Thursday. Kumar submitted a memorandum related to the banking sector and apprised Gopalan about the non-availability of adequate and timely credit for the micro sector. Kumar said though the task force has recommended that 60 per cent of credit should go to the micro sector,they have the apprehension that most of the share of credit will be garnered by high-end small enterprises. Gopalan gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured to look into the issues.
Tech fest held at Guru Nanak Dev Polytechnic College
The fouth annual state-level Inter-Polytechnic Tech Fest was held at the Guru Nanak Dev Polytechnic College on Thursday. PTIS president Balkar Singh Sandhu inaugurated the festival and students from 23 colleges of Punjab participated in it. The festival was conducted under the guidance of Guru Nanak Dev Polytechnic College principal Birinder Singh.
Workshop organised by SIFT
Sport King Institute of Fashion Technology (SIFT) organised a workshop at Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School,Sarabha Nagar. A team from SIFT conducted a Workshop-cum-Competetion to enlighten the students about fashion industry and the future prospects specifically at SIFT. The students were told about the full time degree courses offered by the SIFT. At the workshop,the teachers were impressed by the students work. Particularly work done by Niharika,an old student of the school was appreciated.The Principal Mr. Chantal motivated the team for such interactive and learning sessions.
