Sunanda Pushkar death case: SIT quizzes Shashi Tharoor’s domestic help for over 6 hours

Singh was questioned at the Hauz Khas police station in South Delhi. According to sources, police had sent him a notice asking him to come and join the investigation. Singh, who was in Himachal Pradesh, came to Delhi this morning and joined the investigation.

During questioning, he allegedly told police that he had gone to room no. 345 on the afternoon of January 17 with some papers Tharoor had asked him to take to the hotel and found Pushkar sleeping.

“He said Pushkar was sleeping in the bedroom when he entered the suite and did not wake her up. He said he did not go to the room after that and got news of Pushkar’s death around 9 pm. He had told the SDM that Tharoor and Pushkar had a fight a night before and were not talking to each other,” a senior police officer said.

His questioning came a day after a letter, written by Tharoor in November last year to Police Commissioner B S Bassi, surfaced in which the Congress MP accused investigators of “assaulting” and “intimidating” Singh into “confessing” that he and Tharoor together had killed Pushkar.

Police said Singh was let off after questioning but will be called again if required. Bassi said, “Investigation is an ongoing process. We questioned Narayan Singh regarding the murder case but nothing concrete has come up till now. The investigation is on and several others will be questioned in the process.”
