Man jumps in front of Metro,killed

A 65-year-old man was killed on Tuesday afternoon after he jumped in front of a Metro train at the Botanical Garden Metro station in Noida.

A 65-year-old man was killed on Tuesday afternoon after he jumped in front of a Metro train at the Botanical Garden Metro station in Noida. Police said preliminary investigations suggest that C S Joshi,jumped off the platform to commit suicide. No suicide note was found on his person. Joshi was a retired commandant from the Indo Tibetan Border Police.

A senior police officer said the incident took place at 2.52 pm. “CCTV footage shows that he jumped in front of the approaching Metro at the time. The driver of the train immediately slammed the emergency brakes but could not stop in time. Security guards rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival,” a senior officer said.

The officer said Joshi was undergoing psychiatric treatment at Kailash Hospital for several years. “Relatives have told us that he had bouts of depression and was undergoing treatment.

He had told them that he was going for a walk,and they found out about his death when police personnel informed them about the incident. He was a resident of Greater Noida,” an officer said.
