The Delhi prisons department has terminated the services of 50 officials posted on its premises allegedly after the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) detected manipulation, including in their fingerprints, officers said.
Director General (Prisons) Sanjay Beniwal said, “Notice for termination of services issued to 50 officials of the prisons department of Delhi after a report of mismatch in biometrics and photograph during their verification process was received from the DSSSB”.
This includes 39 warders, nine assistant superintendents and two matrons, a senior prisons official said. The officer added that a month’s termination notice has been issued to these officials who are currently posted across Tihar, Mandoli and Rohini prisons, following which their service will be discontinued. “The DSSSB, which recruits personnel here, communicated the order to us and we have proceeded accordingly,” said the official.
The prisons department and the DSSSB conducted biometric and photograph verification of 477 officials out of which the mismatch was reported in these 50 officials, said an officer, adding, “All these officials had joined in 2020 and are under probation.”
