Every child dreams of giving their parents the kind of happiness they once only imagined, whether it’s through a heartfelt gift, a long-awaited trip, or simply making them feel valued. For Sanjeeva Reddy Thalla, a programmer from Telangana now based in the United Kingdom, that dream came true when his parents experienced their first flight ever.
In a video he shared online, Sanjeeva captured the deeply emotional journey of his parents, who had spent their entire lives in a small Telangana village, as they boarded an airplane for the very first time. The clip begins with scenes of them sitting in their village fields before cutting to joyous moments of them reuniting with Sanjeeva, his wife, and their child in the UK.
“It was their first ever flight. It was their first time crossing our state’s border. It was their first time sitting in an aircraft. It was their first time wearing shoes,” Sanjeeva wrote in his caption, describing just how new and special the experience was for them.
He reflected on how far they had come since his childhood. “As they were landing in the UK, my mind went back to my school days in a village in Telangana. I remember wearing trousers with patches on them. I remember carrying my books in a school bag made from a used fertiliser sack. For much of my life, we didn’t even have a proper house. And now, here they are. In my home.”
Calling it one of the most meaningful moments of his life, Sanjeeva said, “This isn’t the biggest achievement. This isn’t about buying a house. It is all about this moment.” He also mentioned how his mother still signs documents with her thumbprint and his father can barely sign his name in Telugu, a reminder of their humble beginnings.
“From that situation to a world where their son could bring them across continents,” he wrote, summing up the emotional milestone.
The post quickly touched the hearts of thousands online. One user commented, “You should be proud of yourself, it’s such a great feeling to be able to do this for your parents!” Another said, “Accompanying parents along with our success is the real success!! You made it, man!!”
According to his LinkedIn profile, Sanjeeva Reddy Thalla works as a Statistical Senior Programmer at IQVIA in the UK, a role he’s held since 2022.
