Accidents are common on highways, and the risk of getting into one increases during early hours.

An X user @Chandra4bharat posted a dashcam video showing a his car almost crashing into a truck after a private bus in front of him makes a sudden turn. Chandra was on the Bengaluru-Hyderabad highway, and the frightening incident occurred around 4.30 am.

Sharing the video, he wrote, “Yesterday at 4:30AM, I narrowly missed an accident due to the careless driving of private travel bus on Bangalore to Hyd road.!! Fortunately, I didn’t panic. One wrong turn would’ve costed our lives.!! This is just an example of the accidents costing many lives on the highways due to the private travel buses and their careless driving.!!”

The clip quickly went viral, garnering over 1.2 million views. X users, however, were critical of the way Chandra drove, too. They said Chandra should not have tailgated the bus. To this, he responded saying, “Yes, I was at fault by tailgating the bus. But, when the bus driver saw that there was a slow moving truck, he should’ve slowed down instead of turning it suddenly, not to save me but to protect the passengers in his bus.”

Some X users defended Chandra, with one saying, “I still say that it’s not your fault, he can not make sudden turn to the right especially when there is a slow moving truck in front of him and there is insufficient space.”

Another X user added a lighter perspective: “That near miss sounds like a horror movie you survived with a smile and a sigh. The real punchline is every tiny decision on the road could be a lifesaver or a cliffhanger. Humor helps nerves fray less, but steady attention saves more lives than any joke. Drive safe, folks, the sequel depends on it.”

Some users also reflected on broader road safety issues. One person wrote, “Lives are never guaranteed, be it in a bus, train, or flight. But over the last 3–4 years, I’ve personally found train travel to be a lot more comfortable and safer compared to buses. Most bus drivers these days drive quite rashly, and many operators still manage with just one driver for an entire trip. Ideally, every interstate or long-distance bus, regardless of the distance, should have at least two drivers and a conductor onboard.”

The incident comes on the same highway where tragedy struck recently. A private bus traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru caught fire on the outskirts of Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh during the early hours of Friday. Authorities said the blaze erupted after the bus’s fuel tank ignited following an accident with a motorbike. The death toll from that devastating incident has now risen to 20.
