Indians are accustomed to the sight of people thronging a train coach. Once the general coaches are packed, people usually make their way to the sleeper coaches. A Twitter user raised the issue online while sharing a photograph of passengers reportedly sleeping on the floor of a sleeper coach on the Bidar-Yeswantpur Express on Monday.
The photograph shared by a Twitter user named Ramesh shows people sleeping on the floor of the sleeper coach. Ramesh said that the train arrived at Yeswantpur station in Bengaluru after a delay of three hours.
Ramesh tagged the Ministry of Railways and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and wrote, “Condition Bidar – YPR train yesterday. All general ticket passengers in SL coaches. It has arrived YPR at 10.30 instead of 7.40 AM. Causing 3 hours delay to 1000’s of passengers. Day by day, punctuality and these issues are increasing. @RailMinIndia @AshwiniVaishnaw @DrmBengaluru.”

In the comments section, he requested that the number of sleeper and general coaches in trains be increased as well as a new train to Bidar be introduced. “@SWRRLY @KARailway@rlyhydka @RailwaySeva @bhagwantkhuba @UmeshJadhav_BJP @ChristinMP_@bidarupdates Please introduce new train to Bidar via Kalaburgi from Bangalore. Also increase the SL and GS coaches. Most of the working class travel from North Karnataka in this train.”
The tweet elicited several responses and many raised the need to add more number of general coaches. A user commented, “General coaches are not sufficient in most of trains…Railways concentrating only on increasal of AC Tier 1/2/3 only…”. Another user wrote, “They are focusing more on premium trains. Regular trains are getting neglected.” A third user commented, “Regular scenes in most trains these days. SL class is almost equivalent to GS now. Pathetic travel conditions. Crowd control has gone for a toss. No fear of law for general ticket holders in SL & rlys in general show apathy to SL class passengers!”
Railway Seva responded in the comments section asking Ramesh to share PNR details and added that the matter has been raised to concerned official.
