Even as videos show tourists having a great time in Kashmir’s Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Pahalgam, and other areas that are now covered under a blanket of snow, one particular clip – which shows a car skidding off a snow-covered road – is quickly gaining traction.
As the video begins, several people are seen struggling to walk on the icy stretch, sliding uncontrollably. Right then, a car skids into view and completely spirals out of control. The person filming can be heard reciting a prayer as the vehicle spins around and crashes into a pole in a corner, narrowly avoiding a fatal accident. The incident took place near Gulmarg.
Sharing the video, an Instagram handle @kashmir_with_adil wrote. “Iss br k liye bacha le (Protect me for one last time).”

The video accumulated over 40 million views, prompting numerous reactions. A user wrote, “Avoid snowfall months Dec to Mar.” Another commented, “Why did yall even leave the house in that condition? What did you expect?”
“I thought it was Canada,” a third user reacted.
The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar reported that Gulmarg, the ski resort in north Kashmir, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 9 degrees Celsius, which is 5.4 degrees below normal. This marked the coldest temperature recorded so far this season in weather stations across the Kashmir valley.
On Sunday, fresh snowfall in the higher regions of Kashmir, including Gulmarg, Kupwara, and Pir ki Gali, led to the closure of Mughal Road and Sinthan Road, reports said.
Meanwhile, Shimla and surrounding areas in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday experienced the season’s first snowfall in early December after many decades. The temperature dropped to 2.5 degrees Celsius in Shimla.
