Some films, regardless of their success at the time of its release, go on to become cult classics. Karan Johar’s second directorial––Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham with Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor playing pivotal roles and released in 2001––was not only a monster hit at the box office then, the movie has also gained a cult status.

Recently re-released in theatres, the film drew a solid crowd even after 23 years. Fans have seen the movie so many times that dialogues are etched in their memory and are effortlessly recalled. A video shot inside a theatre screening the re-released movie, and has gone viral, proved this.

The video shows the scene with Kajol as Anjali and Farida Jalal as Sayeeda Begum (Daijaan), where they imitate a British accent. Anjali scolds her son, warning him not to turn out like the British, and the two women mimic their annoying neighbour saying, “Oh, hello, Mrs. Sprightley! Oh, hello, Sugar! Would you like some tea? Yes! With a drop of lemon in it. Oh! And something to go with it? Some cookies, please. Cookiesssss, Lovelyyyyyy!” and Kajol adds an endearing, “Chaddo (drop it)!” to the scene with a hand gesture.

The video has gone viral owing to the audience reaction to it. They are seen repeating every dialogue, erupting in laughter as the scene concluded. An Instagram user Sanjana shared the video with the caption, “Lovelyyyyyyyyy! Forever iconic @karanjohar @kajol @dharmamovies #k3g #kabhikhushikabhigham.” The text on the video read, “To hear the entire theatre say the dialogue, word for word. Insane. Iconic. Inimitable.”
