The 77th Independence Day is around the corner. Homes, businesses, and public buildings across the country are decked in tricolour decorations. Many public functions are being organised on the theme of “Nation First, Always First”.

Many artists also pay homage to India’s Independence struggle by creating artworks that include symbols like the national flag, the freedom fighters, and the country’s security forces.

A popular art account on Instagram, which goes by the name Punam Art Academy (@punamartacademy), shared a set of videos that showed a woman creating simple but impactful artworks based on Independence Day.

In the videos, the artist created videos that showed how one can create an image of our national flag and a portrait of a soldier by using numbers like 15 and 77. In another video, she created a self-sailing boat-like structure and put a mini flag on it. These videos are raking in hundreds of likes.

Last year, U M T Raja, a miniature artist from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, decided to sketch the national flag in his eye. The 52-year-old artist successfully placed tricolour on the sclera of his eye for 20 minutes after he took inspiration from the quote, “Namadhu India thai nattai kan pol kakka ventum”, meaning “we must protect our Indian motherland like our eyes”.

The same year, Aayush Kundal, a disabled artist shared a video of himself painting a portrait of ‘Bharat Mata’ by using a brush with his feet. He created this artwork to celebrate India’s 76th Independence Day.
