A video went viral recently purportedly from an Air India flight showing water dripping from overhead bins and it left netizens perplexed.
Now, Air India has confirmed that the incident happened on November 24 on their flight AI169 operating from London’s Gatwick Airport to India’s Amritsar. The airline said the flight had developed a rare occurrence of condensation adjustment inside the cabin.
“Some of our guests seated in the affected rows were promptly relocated to other vacant seats and given the circumstances, the cabin crew made every effort to make the guests comfortable. Air India is committed to the safety and comfort of guests on board and we regret this unexpected incident,” it said further.
The 45-second clip showed passengers sitting on one side of the plane while the other side is empty as water leaked through the flight’s overhead bins. A user on X (@baldwhiner) posted the video on Monday. The passengers are seen resting on one side of the plane because of the leakage. Towards the end of the video, the pilot is heard addressing the issue. The man, who posted the video, wrote a sarcastic caption which said, “Air India…. fly with us – it’s not a trip…it’s an immersive experience.”
Earlier this year, celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor slammed Air India for the quality of food served as breakfast during a Nagpur-Mumbai flight.
Then, a video had surfaced online showing an insect crawling in a plate of half-eaten food that was served in business class on a Mumbai-Chennai flight.
