He’s hired! But social media’s in shock as Donald Trump becomes US President-elect

Donald Trump becomes the president of the United States and people are in shock.

Guess what? Many Americans’ worst nightmare has come true. Donald J Trump has indeed become the 45th president of the United States and in fact, won with a strong margin. What’s interesting is that his run up to the elections was quite eventful as he capitalized on voters’ economic anxieties, took advantage of racial tensions and overcame a string of sexual assault allegations.

Obviously, he became the president because people voted for him but on social media, there are millions of people who are absolutely shocked and disappointed at the result. Much of the reaction to the idea of a US President Trump have been that of disbelief. Memes and gifs with horrified expressions are ruling the roost.

#HeIsNotMyPresident is one of the hashtags that’s trending on Twitter. “Tonight is the last night the world looks at the USA with admiration. Truly the end of an era. How embarrassing!” one user tweeted, “#USA ain’t any different. Bigotry hatred racisism is deep rooted @realDonaldTrump winning endorses the above statement” wrote another.

Interestingly, his first speech after winning the election is getting some positive response but mostly people are still trying to wrap their head around what just happened. Well, even Indians.

Sample these.
