
An American Airlines plane from Tampa, Florida narrowly avoided disaster when multiple tires burst during takeoff. As the plane accelerated for liftoff, the pilot had to apply brakes abruptly to ensure safety.
The video was shared by X user Colin Rugg with the caption, “American Airlines flight 590 out of Tampa, Florida narrowly avoids disaster after multiple tires blow out during takeoff. As the plane was picking up speed and seconds away from liftoff, the tires blew out. The pilot slammed on the brakes as the plane barreled towards the end of the runway.”
All 174 passengers and six crew members escaped without injury and were safely evacuated from the flight. American Airlines spokesperson Alfredo Garduno confirmed that the plane was taken to the terminal. The airline swiftly arranged a replacement flight for the passengers, and normal flight operations at the Florida airport remained unaffected.
The video was filmed by Captain Steven Markovich, known for his YouTube channel featuring aviation content. In the background, he can be heard exclaiming, reacting to the sight.

Despite the tire explosion, the plane continued taxiing until it was stopped at the end of the runway. Emergency vehicles quickly responded to the scene after the plane halted.
Seeing the video, social media users praised the pilots for their quick decision to abort the takeoff, noting their skilled handling of the situation. One user said, “Great work by the pilots to abort the takeoff and bring the plane safely to a stop on the runway!.” As second user commented, “Wow. If that had happened when it reached the destination and landed, it could have really been disastrous. Probably fortunate it happened before becoming airborne.” A third user wrote, “These malfunctions with planes, close calls are way too common. When they want to make someone disappear, this is exactly how they will do it.”
