Entrepreneur Navya Naveli Nanda, currently pursuing an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, reflected on how her grandparents have inspired her — both maternal and paternal — including Jaya Bachchan. “If you talk to her about her life, though she has also worn many hats, she has always been a very patriotic person. She has always told me that growing up, her dream was to join the army. That’s what she actually wanted to do. She has spoken about it many times. Fight for the country and do something to make her country better, to help the people in her country. I think that’s the perfect hat she wears in the political sphere now. She is someone who always wanted to do that,” Navya, 27, told Mojo Story.

She continued, “Now, she has experienced so much that she now feels that she wants to give back”. “She says that she got a lot from her country, it’s now my time to kind of give back. It’s great to see her do something she enjoys. She is somebody who is unfiltered, honest, and that’s what is required when you look at politics or any profession.”

Navya added how Jaya, at 77, continues to work for women. “She talks a lot about women. That’s something that has inspired me a lot. Their protection, well-being and safety. I have seen her advocate for that. That’s something that should never stop.”

Reflecting on Navya’s interview, Delnna Rrajesh, a psychotherapist and life coach, said, “This is what happens when a childhood dream becomes a lifelong compass. It may not always manifest in the way we first imagine, but its energy finds a way to live on,” she added.

The undercurrent of early values: When someone carries a purpose this strongly from childhood, it shapes their decision-making, their character, and their sense of contribution to the world. The desire to serve doesn’t just vanish with time. It matures, takes on new forms, and finds new arenas, said Delnna.

For young girls and women, having such role models matters deeply. “It reminds them that strength doesn’t always mean being loud or aggressive. It can also mean being deeply rooted, having clarity about your principles, and standing firm in your truth. Women who live with purpose become carriers of a legacy. They influence how the next generation thinks, dreams, and acts. They normalise ambition, courage, and service,” shared Delnna.

This is how powerful intergenerational values are passed down — not through lectures, but through living examples. “Having a psychological anchor gives a clear sense of purpose to navigate challenges differently. They don’t crumble easily under criticism. They don’t lose direction when life shifts. Their identity is not tied to titles or applause, but to a deeper why. That’s what makes such figures so magnetic. They walk through life with a rare kind of conviction,” said Delnna.

Navya’s admiration for her grandmother reflects how quietly strong role models shape young women. “When a woman leads with purpose, she gives others permission to do the same. She sets an energetic blueprint. Purpose is contagious. It doesn’t demand followers. It inspires leaders,” shared Delnna.

When a woman holds her values with such clarity, she doesn’t just inspire the world around her. She raises generations who understand what it means to stand for something bigger than themselves.
