Haircare is as much about nourishing foods as it is about the external application of products. This begins right from what you consume on an everyday basis. Explaining more about such foods to prevent greys, influencer Jasmeet Kaur posted about some foods that are a must-have in one’s diet.
Kaur listed the following:
Include sweet potato in your diet. Packed with beta-carotene, a key nutrient for hair health, this orange gem promotes growth and prevents dryness. According to Dr Rinky Kapoor, dermatologist and dermato-surgeon at The Esthetic Clinics, it promotes hair growth and helps prevent dryness, contributing to shinier and stronger hair.
This superfood powerhouse is loaded with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that nourish your scalp and hair follicles from within. Loaded with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, spirulina nourishes the scalp and hair follicles. “It supports overall hair health from within, contributing to a lustrous appearance,” said Dr Kapoor.
Kaur said that it is an anti-inflammatory spice that fights free radicals which prevents greying. “It supports scalp health and helps maintain the hair‘s natural colour,” said Dr Kapoor.
Rich in vitamin E, this creamy fruit deeply nourishes and strengthens hair. Dr Kapoor mentioned that it helps maintain the health of the scalp and contributes to softer, more manageable hair.
Ancient rinse technique delays greying. Dr Kapoor said that as an ancient hair rinse technique believed to delay greying and promote healthy hair, fermented rice water contains amino acids and vitamins that contribute to overall hair strength.
Chlorella can help prevent premature greying. Look for supplements or hair products infused with this potent ingredient. Dr Kapoor also mentioned that chlorella is considered a potent ingredient for supporting hair health when included in supplements or hair products.
As a rich source of iron and vitamins, black sesame seeds added to salads, yogurt, or rice can aid in shinier hair. “It is known for high levels of nutrients and antioxidants that fight cell damage,” said Dr Kapoor.
Incorporating these elements into your diet can contribute to healthier and more vibrant hair. However, it’s essential to note that individual results may vary, and overall hair health is influenced by various factors, including genetics, lifestyle, and proper hair care.
