Users also prodded her on her weight loss and whether it had any effect on her PCOS. “No, I think it is a myth that losing weight reverses your PCOS. It may reduce some of the symptoms but PCOS just doesn’t go away. I still have hair on my face. I shave every other day to get rid of my facial hair,” said Kapoor.

She also shared that she likes to have gummies over hard candies to fulfil her vitamin requirements.

In case you haven’t already, here’s why you should have it, according to registered dietitian Garima Goyal.

Diabetes friendly – Traditional medicine has long been using ivy gourd to treat diabetes. The stems and leaves of this plant are cooked and then added to soups or gravies etc. Also, consuming this vegetable 2-3 times a week has shown to regulate blood sugar levels.
Great to aid in weight loss – This vegetable is a great metabolism booster and helps those aiming to lose weight. It has low calorie count and high water content, which makes for an ideal combination for weight loss.
Anti-ageing effect – The skin needs vitamin C to retain its youthful appeal and vitality, and ivy gourd is a rich source of this vitamin. All the skin allergies or ailments as well as fine lines and wrinkles can be improved with the help of this hydrating vegetable due to its water content and the richness of vitamin C.
Gut-friendly – Belonging to the gourd family, kundru has a great proportion of water and fibre, thus is a great way to deal with constipation as it adds bulk to the stool and eases the bowel movements.
Good for heart – This vegetable is a great source of potassium, a mineral that helps to keep the heart healthy by regulating the blood flow to the heart.
Cancer preventive properties – “This vegetable is a great source of beta carotene and other antioxidants that are known to help prevent cancer. These plant compounds suppress the growth of tumour cells and don’t let them multiply,” said Goyal.

Ways to cook ivy gourd or tindli

– This vegetable should only be consumed after thoroughly cleaning and boiling followed by cooking it.
– Ivy gourd can be prepared as soup.
– This gourd also makes for a good pickle.
