Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in National Unity Day event in Gujarat on Friday (October 31) being held on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. A paramilitary parade and a flypast by the Indian Air Force was also on display at the event.
PM Modi paid floral tributes to Sardar Patel at Statue of Unity in Gujarat’s Ekta Nagar. The Guard of Honour presented to the Prime Minister was led by Gujarat Cadre IPS Officer Simran Bhardwaj.
The parade included contingents from BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP and SSB along with police forces from Assam, Tripura, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and the NCC.
Five Shaurya Chakra awardees from CRPF and 16 gallantry medal winners from BSF took part in the parade on the anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The IAF’s Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team of 9 jets zoomed past the Statue of Unity in the Diamond Formation and Unity Formation. The aircraft were separated from one another by a distance of just 5 metres. Watch the video below:
