After Bigg Boss 16 wrapped up in February, a lot of fans have been missing the daily drama that came from the reality show. And to quench their thirst, Salman Khan is set to be back with a fresh new season of Bigg Boss OTT. As readers would know, Karan Johar hosted the first season that saw Divya Agarwal emerge as the winner. As per sources, Salman Khan is shooting for the promo of Bigg Boss OTT 2 with rapper-singer Raftaar on Saturday at Filmcity.
A source close to the show shared with indianexpress.com that Salman Khan confirmed his presence a few days ago. As soon as the deal with him went through, the makers have been working at lightning speed to get the ball rolling with the show. “While a few contestants are almost locked, conversations with others are at different stages. The makers want to make an official announcement with Salman via a promo soon. The Bollywood star is shooting with Raftaar, and the two will have a jugalbandi kind of sort in the teaser video. The video will drop in a couple of days,” the source added.
Since Jio Studios recently announced its massive content slate, it wants to attract the audience to its platform through the popularity of Bigg Boss. The digital reality show will stream on Jio Cinemas and Voot Select.
As for contestants, names like Jiya Shanker, Munawar Faruqui, Shivam Sharma, Umar Riaz, and Awez Darbar have been speculated as contestants. Rajeev Sen, in an interview with ETimes, had also revealed that he was approached for the show. However, sources confirm that his participation is yet to be confirmed. Although, if Rajeev indeed joins, there are high chances his estranged wife Charu Asopa would also come on board to spice things up in the show.
Bigg Boss OTT 2, like its previous season, will be shorter in duration as compared to the television counterpart. With a runtime of six weeks, the reality series will have close to 10 celebrities being locked inside a house. Last season, three finalists from Bigg Boss OTT Shamita Shetty, Pratik Sehajpal and Nishant Bhat were given a chance to be in the main show (Bigg Boss 15).
As per sources Bigg Boss OTT 2 will launch by the second week of June and will wrap up in July end. As for Bigg Boss 17, the show will kickstart around September.
