It’s mind-boggling to think that Netflix’s latest hit web series, Baby Reindeer, is based on a true story. The idea of a woman completely unraveling a man’s life through relentless stalking over the years feels surreal. Witnessing the portrayal of Martha’s character on screen was unsettling, to say the least. However, Fiona Harvey, the real-life figure who inspired Martha, has revealed her identity. She will speak with Piers Morgan in an interview, and the British broadcaster has shared a photo with her on X (formerly Twitter).
Piers shared a photo with Fiona and wrote, “*WORLD EXCLUSIVE* The real-life Martha from Baby Reindeer breaks cover and gives me her first TV interview about the smash hit Netflix show. Fiona Harvey wants to have her say & ‘set the record straight.’ Is she a psycho stalker? Find out tomorrow on @PiersUncensored.”
Baby Reindeer, a Netflix limited series, is based on comedian Richard Gadd’s real-life encounter with a stalker he named “Martha.” According to a Deadline report, the series garnered around 18 million views between April 29 and May 5, totaling 56.5 million in just 26 days. It has also become the most-watched title of the week again.
Rohan Nahaar of indianexpress.com awarded the show 4.5 stars and wrote, “Baby Reindeer isn’t really a show about stalking at all; it’s a show about decency, and whether we still have any room for it in our lives. Donny was simply being kind to a weeping Martha when he offered to buy her a cup of tea. He viewed the mentorship that he received from the hotshot comedy writer as an act of kindness as well. But his past experiences have mutated the very idea of decency in his mind.”
