Shankar and Ram Charan from Game ChangerRam Charan calls Game Changer director Shankar the best commercial filmmaker.

Ram Charan’s connection with director Shankar started long before Game Changer. In fact, it started long before he even became an actor. Incidentally, Ram Charan’s father, and legendary actor Chiranjeevi’s final Hindi film was the official remake of Shankar’s directorial debut, Gentleman. And 30 years later, Ram Charan is headlining a Shankar film, and in a recent promotional event in Dallas, USA, the actor was effusive in his praise for the ace filmmaker. “I still can’t believe I am sitting next to Shankar garu, and I am the hero in his film. It feels surreal,” said the actor.

Reminiscing on his previous meetings with Shankar, and how he was really tensed to even talk to him, Ram Charan expressed his happiness about the growth in their relationship over the course of shooting Game Changer. “These three years was a journey. I didn’t feel like going to a movie set. It is a new beginning. I have learnt so much. Shankar garu is the king of directors. He is to Indian cinema what Sachin Tendulkar was to cricket,” said Ram Charan, adding, “He is the No 1 global director. The No 1 commercial director, and I am very lucky to have worked with him, and I will forever be thankful to God, and my parents.”

Ram Charan also promised that Game Changer would not just satisfy his fans, but Shankar’s fans too. “This will be the best experience for any Shankar garu fan. Right from the time you enter the theatre, you will be entertained. It is one of his best films,” said the RRR actor, who also spoke about his co-stars SJ Suryah and Anjali. “The combination scenes between Suryah garu and me would lift the film to a different scale. These are scenes I’ve never acted in or even seen before. Also, my character of Appanna, who comes in the flashback is a very novel character with very high morals. Anjali garu plays Appanna’s wife in the flashback, and it is one of the best looks of her career, and her onscreen presence is so good.”
