Pushpa 2 Worldwide Box Office Collection Day 33: The unprecedented success of Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil’s Pushpa 2: The Rule, directed by Sukumar, may be starting to wane as the film completes over a month at the box office. Having already achieved the distinction of becoming the biggest hit in Indian cinema, with a staggering collection of Rs 1,206 crore nett, the film has displaced SS Rajamouli and Prabhas’ Baahubali 2: The Conclusion from the top spot. The latter had collected Rs 1,030 crore back in 2016. Pushpa 2 has also made history by becoming the first film from the South of India to cross the Rs 500 crore mark in Hindi, with its current earnings standing at Rs 791.65 nett crore in Hindi, as per Sacnilk. However, according to the film’s banner — Mythri Movie Makers — the film’s overall gross collection stands at Rs 1,832 crore in 32 days.
What’s notable is that Pushpa 2 was looking to break the box office record of Aamir Khan’s Dangal (2016), which grossed Rs 2,024 crore. With Pushpa 2 still running in theatres, it will be interesting to see if it can indeed break Dangal’s record. As of now, Pushpa 2 is still short of Dangal’s record by Rs 192 crore. However, according to early estimates by Sacnilk, the film’s box office performance has slowed down significantly, with its day 33 collections standing at Rs 2.5 crore, a drastic drop from its Sunday collections of Rs 7 crore. The trade is anticipating a further decline in ticket sales, as the New Year festivities have come to an end and the work week has begun. Nevertheless, the film is expected to experience a resurgence in its collections over the weekend, as no major films are releasing this week, except for Sonu Sood’s Fateh, which has generated minimal buzz.

Despite facing competition from films like Mufasa: The Lion King and Varun Dhawan’s Baby John, Pushpa 2 has demonstrated remarkable resilience at the box office. However, trade experts are cautious about the challenges that lie ahead in January, with the upcoming releases of Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force and Shahid Kapoor-Pooja Hegde’s Deva. The underwhelming performance of Varun Dhawan’s Baby John, which failed to breach the Rs 40 crore mark despite its festive release, has raised eyebrows in the industry. Interestingly, Baby John’s poor showing has had an unintended benefit, allowing Pushpa 2 to maintain its momentum in cinemas, with Unni Mukundan’s Marco also reaping the rewards. As Pushpa 2 continues its run, fans are eagerly anticipating the next installment of the franchise.
