Pushpa 2 box office collection day 8: Director Sukumar’s action sequel Pushpa 2: The Rule has broken several box office records in its one-week run. As it enters week two in theatres worldwide, the film is expected to overtake a couple of other fellow blockbusters. Having already surpassed the lifetime domestic totals of Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD and Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, Pushpa 2 is now set to beat the lifetime record of Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2 and SS Rajamouli’s Oscar-winning RRR.
Pushpa 2 made around Rs 38 crore across India on day eight of release, which marks a slight 12% decrease from Wednesday’s numbers. The film’s net India collections now stand at Rs 726 crore. On day eight, Pushpa 2 continued its trend of making more money via its Hindi-language version, as opposed to the original Telugu-language version. The difference in collections is getting broader by the day. Pushpa 2 made Rs 27 crore in Hindi on day eight, and Rs 8 crore in Telugu. The remaining money came from the film’s Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil versions.
The total domestic collections for the film’s Hindi version have passed the Rs 400 crore mark in one week. According to Mythri Movie Makers, Pushpa 2 has made Rs 1067 crore worldwide in seven days, which means that it has made at least Rs 1105 crore worldwide in eight days. This number is likely to increase when international figures for day eight are included. What this means is that the movie is around Rs 100 crore shy of overtaking both KGF 2 and RRR. Pushpa 2 will achieve this milestone this weekend, when it is expected to witness another uptick in collections.
Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2 stars Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles. The film serves as a sequel to 2021’s Pushpa: The Rise, and will get a sequel, titled Pushpa 3: The Rampage. The highest-grossing Indian film of all time is Dangal; it’s also the only Indian film to have made more than Rs 2000 crore worldwide. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has made more than Rs 1700 crore worldwide, and this is the benchmark that Pushpa 2 should be aiming at.
