Suriya’s Rolex played an important role in the success of Kamal Haasan’s Vikram, which earned more than Rs 400 crore at the box office. The entry of the drug lord at the climax of the film, with a promise of a sequel, made up for a great crescendo for the film. Now, Suriya has hinted that he might make a comeback as Rolex in a standalone film. In a recent interaction with his fans, the Kanguva actor said that Lokesh Kanagaraj has told him a one-line story for a spin-off Rolex character.
Suriya revealed the news to his fans in a meet-and-greet event. On top of disclosing the possibility of a Rolex film, Suriya also said that he will team up with Lokesh for the director’s dream project Irumbu Kai Mayavi, a superhero film. The ambitious project will happen after the standalone Rolex film. Suriya will also return as Rolex in Vikram 2, which will witness the face-off between the titular hero and the drug lord. Meanwhile, Lokesh also has Kaithi 2 in his lineup, which is also part of Vikram’s universe.
Suriya is currently working with director Siva on the big-budget film Kanguva, which is touted to be a period film. The film, which marks the debut of Disha Patani in Tamil, will be released in multiple languages across the world.
Suriya also has an untitled project with director Sudha Kongura. The two earlier made Soorarai Pottru, a well-received film. On top of that, Suriya also has the rural drama Vaadivasal with director Vertri Maaran, which is based on a Tamil novella of the same name.
