Indian airlines have been consistently facing criticism for various issues, ranging from mismanagement to flight delays and improper baggage handling. However, a recent incident at Kochi airport, which could have added to the discomfort of passengers, turned into a memorable experience, thanks to art and an artist.
Shivamani, affectionately known as Drums Shivamani, found himself among the passengers awaiting their baggage at Kochi airport. Faced with a delay of over 40 minutes, the fatigued passengers were pleasantly surprised when the renowned drummer decided to lift their spirits. Shivamani hopped onto the baggage carousel, using his drumsticks on the machine to play the beats of ‘Humma Humma’ from the movie Bombay, a collaboration with music icon AR Rahman.
The video quickly went viral on social media after a fellow passenger captured the impromptu performance. She shared, “It’s been 40 minutes since we landed at Kochi airport, and we are still waiting for our bags to come out. Instead of getting agitated, we are getting entertained by a fellow passenger.”
Drums Shivamani, a frequent collaborator with AR Rahman, is a globally acclaimed drummer who has contributed to films across various industries, from Hollywood to Bollywood to Tamil cinema. He is also a recipient of the Padma Shri Award from the Indian government.
