Dhruv Vikram will be making his comeback to the big screen, starring in the lead role in Mari Selvaraj’s Bison Kaalamadan. The team recently released the first single ‘Theekkoluthi’ , and the most exciting part of that song is that it has been penned by none else than Maari Selvaraj. The music video begins with the lyrics that translate to ‘There is no ocean more turbulent than your memory’.
The music this time is not composed by regular Mari Selvaraj collaborator Santhosh Narayanan but by Nivas K Prasanna. The black and white expressionist imagery makes it stand out from the usual singles released for film promotions.

The ballad of longing strongly registers the fierce longing and pain in the vocals and percussive arrangements. Dhruv Vikram and leading lady Anupama Parameswaran can be seen in the music video with references to many folk traditions and dance forms being presented in the choreography and styling of the background actors. The song is also rendered soulfully by the composer Nivas K Prasanna, who captures the angst of the lyrics with great detail.
Bison Kaalamadan already looks different from Mari Selvaraj’s earlier work for its visual language and auditory experimentation used in the song. Mari Selvaraj has been known for doing this kind of promotion well, where he encapsulates the essence of a movie into a short video, with the emotions, angst, and desperate conditions of the lead characters being explored through metaphorical symbols.

Bison Kaalamadan also features Pasupathy, Ameer, Lal, Rajisha Vijayan, Azhagam Perumal, and Aruvi Madhan. The sports drama is expected to feature the most intense character in Dhruv Vikram’s filmography till now, and the scenes used in the song from the film look promising. The project is bankrolled by Neelam Studios and Applause Entertainment, with Pa Ranjith serving as the co-producer. Ezhil Arasu K handles the cinematography, while Kumar Gangappan is in charge of the art direction. The makers have not yet announced the official release date for the film.
