Staying true to its title and the rom-com genre, the peppy new-age music of Happy Ending was launched recently in Mumbai. The star cast of the film comprising Saif Ali Khan, Ileana D’Cruz, Kalki Koechlin, Govinda, barring Ranvir Shorey were present at the event and Koechlin, along with RJ Archana from Radio City, also turned the host for the evening.
After Shudh Desi Romance, Go Goa Gone and Finding Fanny, Sachin-Jigar (Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saraiya) have composed for Happy Ending. “We are young and we don’t want to do dated stuff. There’s a new breed of directors whose scripts and dialogues are young,” said Sachin as he spoke about why a significant number of films they’ve worked on have been youth-oriented. Jigar added, “We want to give the album a newness and give breaks to new voices.”
The launch started with the trailer of Happy Ending being screened after which Saif performed to the beats of Paaji tussi such a pussycat with a troupe of approximately 20-something girls in red polka dotted dresses. Paaji... is a break-up song. Ileana joined the gang just as they began playing the next song, Khamma ghani, a romantic number by Papon Angaraag, Smita Jain and Vidhi Mehta. She and Saif slow danced to the song as the crowd cheered them. A slow number, Khamma ghani is about seeking blessings in love.
This perky album also has a song on girl power, Miliya miliya sung by newbie Priya Andrews and the erstwhile Rekha Bhardwaj. However, the most hilarious number is Haseena tu, kameena main, by Siddhart Basru, Rahul Pandey and Shruti Pathak. While introducing the song, Kalki explained, “It’s about finding someone who can match the devil in you.”
While the film’s album has varied songs to match every mood, it also features a romantic song by Arijit Singh without which any film’s soundtrack is incomplete these days. Unlike his other songs that have an intense vibe, Jaise… is a very tender duet with Priya Saraiya (composer Jigar’s wife). The song’s video was launched there too.
