While fans going wild during concerts is nothing new, a disturbing trend has emerged in recent times — concertgoers getting overly excited and throwing heavy objects at performers, sometimes causing serious injuries. From American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish and rapper Cardi B to Indian playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan and vocalist Karan Aujla, many renowned celebrities have been on the receiving end of such reckless behaviour. The latest to experience this unfortunate ordeal is renowned playback singer and music composer Sonu Nigam.
The incident happened during his performance at Delhi Technological University’s (DTU) Engifest 2025 on Sunday when sections of the crowd began pelting stones and bottles at the stage. On noticing this, Nigam halted his performance midway and urged the audience of over one lakh students to refrain from such actions that could endanger those on stage.

“Main aapke liye aaya hun yahan pe so that we can all have a good time. I’m not asking you to not enjoy, but please aisa na kariye (I have come here for you so that we can all have a good time. I’m not asking you to not enjoy, but please don’t do this),” he pleaded, Hindustan Times reported, pointing out that his team members were getting hurt.
Meanwhile, a viral video from the event shows that Nigam was initially unbothered by the crowd throwing harmless objects. In the clip, he can be seen happily accepting and even wearing a pink headband that was tossed towards the stage while he was performing the track “Tumse Milke Dil Ka Jo Haal”.
