BTS member Kim Taehyung, known as V, recently marked his solo debut with the release of his album Layover on September 8. This solo venture has set remarkable records, notably by topping the Hanteo Chart with exceptional first-day sales.
The album sold a staggering 1,672,138 copies on the very first day of its release, a milestone recognised by Hanteo Chart, a significant music sales tracker in South Korea. This achievement has been hailed as the highest first-day sales record for any solo album in the history of Hanteo Chart.
V is third the member of the globally acclaimed boy band BTS to make history on the Hanteo Chart with solo releases. Jimin and Suga, fellow BTS members, previously held this record with their respective albums Face and D-Day. In terms of first-day sales among all artists, including groups, V ranks as the fifth highest, trailing behind SEVENTEEN, BTS, Stray Kids, and TXT.
In addition to the impressive physical album sales, V’s title track “Slow Dancing” claimed the top position on the iTunes Top Songs charts in over 75 regions worldwide, including the United Kingdom, Brazil, Japan, France, Australia, and Canada, among others. Moreover, Layover dominated the iTunes Top Albums charts in at least 65 different regions. Notably, V’s solo album also made a significant impact on Japan’s Oricon chart, securing the top position with an additional 221,491 copies sold. Simultaneously, the album’s song “Slow Dancing” attained the coveted top spot on the Daily Digital Single Ranking.
The album Layover comprises six tracks, including “Rainy Days”, “Blue”, “Love Me Again”, “Slow Dancing”, “For Us” and “Slow Dancing”.
