Ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali, who is currently in India, says he sees himself as a peace messenger between cultures and is getting several invites to perform all over the country.
“I am getting many invitations to perform. As an artiste you love to sing if the situation is right. I am happy with the love that is being showered by my fans,” Ali told PTI.
The musician had to cancel his concert in Mumbai last year following protests from Shiv Sena but he is no longer disappointed.
“I only felt bad for my fans. ‘Fans maayus hote hai’. As an artiste, I keep travelling everywhere. We should be seen as peace messengers. We have nothing to do with politics,” the 75-year-old singer said.
Ali said India and Pakistan are “humsaaya”.
“We are ‘humsaaya’. Someone who is closest to you is your ‘humsaaya’, you share your good and bad time with each other.”
The musician recently dubbed for director Suhaib Ilyasi movie “Ghar Wapsi” where he has acted also.
He has sung “Apni mitti ki khoosboo hain rago mein yeh basi hai… chhomenge isko shaan se. Humko toh pyara hain yeh watan, apni jaan se”.
When asked about his acting stint, Ali laughed, saying he does not know much about it.
“I don’t know much about acting. I do all my acting through my voice but Suhaib is like a younger brother. I could not say no to him. The role is really small.
“I don’t like to sing in movies but I agreed to do this song.”
