Fans of the pop music sensation Taylor Swift were already over the moon when she announced her upcoming album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl’. Now the fans have more to celebrate, as the singer announced her engagement with boyfriend Travis Kelce. However, Travis’ father, Ed Kelce, revealed in an interview that the two had gotten engaged two weeks ago and kept the news private.
Ed told News 5 when Travis actually did the proposal, “Oh, maybe two weeks ago, not quite two weeks ago. He was going to put it off till this week. I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week to, you know, do some grand thing, to make it a big special event. And I told him repeatedly, ‘You know, you could do it on the side of the road; do it any place that makes it a special event when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you’.”
He added that Taylor’s father, Scott Swift, gave Travis very similar advice and told the American football player to stop overthinking it. He revealed that Travis proposed to Taylor at Lee’s Summit in Missouri and said, “He got her out there; they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘Let’s go out and have a glass of wine.’ They got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful. They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great.”
Taylor has kept comments under her posts disabled for over 5 years now, and the fans had to take over the rest of the internet to express their feelings about the news. One user wrote on X, “Congratulations to Taylor Swift on her engagement – we certainly need more love in the world, and it has made all her fans very happy.”
Even President Donald Trump got into the action as he called Taylor a “terrific person” and wished the “great player” Travis Kelce a “lot of luck”. A surprising reaction considering that Trump has been quite vocal about his dislike for Taylor in the past.
