Where and when will the 2024 BAFTAs take place?

The 2024 BAFTAs are set to be held at the Royal Festival Hall in London on February 18, 2024, commencing at 7 pm GMT. As per Indian Standard Time, the ceremony will commence at 12.30 am on February 19. The event will be attended by prominent figures in the film industry and will feature a heated competition across various categories.

How to watch the 2024 BAFTAs?

Viewers in the UK can tune in to BBC One to catch the awards ceremony live. In India, audiences can watch the red carpet program and the award ceremony on Lionsgate Play, which will also broadcast the event in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Indonesia.

Who is hosting the BAFTA 2024?

Scottish actor David Tennant has been roped in to host the show. Tennant follows previous hosts Richard E Grant and Rebel Wilson from 2022 and 2023. Meanwhile, ahead of the ceremony, Tennant told Variety that he was not going to make jokes about singer Taylor Swift, after witnessing how Jo Koy bombed on stage at the Golden Globes. “Not being a comic, I feel gives me slight cover. I’m not really expected to be good at any of that stuff. I’m just there to hold it all together. And don’t diss Tay Tay, I think is the lesson to be learned. I live in a house of Taylor Swift fans, so I know better,” he told Variety.

BAFTA 2024 nominations

Similar to other ceremonies, Christopher Nolan’s epic biographical thriller Oppenheimer leads the BAFTA nominations with 13 nods. Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things follows closely with 11 nominations, while Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon and Jonathan Glazer’s The Zone of Interest each received nine nominations.

Eleven out of 23 nominees in the performance categories have received their first BAFTA Film nomination, including Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall and The Zone of Interest), Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer), Fantasia Barrino, and Danielle Brooks (The Color Purple), Colman Domingo (Rustin), Paul Giamatti, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Dominic Sessa (The Holdovers), Jacob Elordi (Saltburn), Vivian Oparah (Rye Lane), and Teo Yoo (Past Lives).
