Varun Dhawan and Nora Fatehi’s fusion of ‘Garmi’ and ‘Say Shava Shava’ leaves fans bemused: ‘Yeh kya hai?’

It was a star-studded extravaganza in Abu Dhabi as the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) 2023 took place over the weekend. Bollywood celebrities like Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Kriti Sanon, and Sara Ali Khan impressed audiences with their amazing performances. However, it was Varun Dhawan and Nora Fatehi who left fans befuddled with their twisted rendition of the song ‘Garmi.’

In the video doing the rounds on the internet, Varun was seen dancing to ‘Garmi’, with shades of the song ‘Say Shava Shava.’ Nora joined him on stage as the song from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham played, and they had a playful moment. Varun lifted Nora, and they danced together while singing, “Arrey yar koi AC chala do yaar.” They did the signature hook step of the song, with Varun getting closer to Nora as she moved backwards. Towards the end, Nora left the stage.

Internet users had mixed reactions and a few of them had hilarious reactions. One of the fans said, “Both of them are great dancers….and they went with this?” Another said, “I think this might be them doing a “remix” of their songs in 2000s-style Bollywood.”

Salman, Kriti and Rakul Preet Singh among others also impressed the fans with their energetic performances. Vicky Kaushal and Abhishek Bachchan hosted the award ceremony. Anil Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Dia Mirza, Urvashi Rautela and Rajkummar Rao among others also attended the award ceremony. Hrithik, Abhishek and Vicky also performed the iconic hook steps of the song Ek Pal Ka Jeena.
