Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 continues to be unstoppable even in its 5th week of release. With minimal competition in theatres, the film experienced a surge in its collection over the 5th weekend. After earning Rs 36.1 crore by the end of the 4th week, Stree 2 collected Rs 3.35 crore on Friday. It saw a 61.19 percent increase in its earnings, raking in Rs 5.4 crore on Saturday. The upward trend continued on Sunday, with the film collecting Rs 7 crore. This brings the total domestic collection to Rs 555.10 crore, as the film steadily marches towards eclipsing Jawan’s Rs 583 crore milestone to emerge as highest Hindi grosser ever.
Stree 2 broke yet another record during its 5th weekend, registering the highest-ever Day 32 collection in the history of Hindi cinema. It claimed the crown from KGF: Chapter 2, which held the record with Rs 10.12 crore in its 5th weekend. Stree 2 surpassed this and also outperformed other top-grossing films in their 5th weekend. For example, Jawan minted Rs 5.31 crore, Kalki 2898 AD earned Rs 6.9 crore, and RRR collected Rs 4.54 crore during their respective 5th weekends. Stree 2 outshone all these top earners.
Released alongside Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa, Stree 2 quickly overtook them at the box office. It was initially set to face competition from Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency, but the latter’s release was postponed. Even Kareena Kapoor’s The Buckingham Murders, which released last Friday (September 13), failed to make a dent in Stree 2’s earnings.
Stree 2 has become the highest-grossing film of both Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s careers. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the film also features Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and Pankaj Tripathi in pivotal roles.
