Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma is currently enjoying a successful run at the box office. The film is part of Maddock horror comedy universe, which has produced several hit films like Stree, Stree 2, Munjya, and others. Characters from different films in the universe also make cameo appearances in other films, creating an interconnected narrative. For instance, Varun, who played the role of Bhediya, made a cameo in Thamma, keeping the films in the universe interlinked. Similarly, Nora Fatehi, who appeared in the song “Kamariya” in Stree, returned to the franchise with Thamma.

In a recent interaction, director Amar Kaushik spoke about this, explaining why even supporting characters in the franchise are important. He was also asked about the dance numbers being a recurring feature in each film of the universe and whether it was becoming excessive. For the unversed, Nora features in the song “Dilbar Ki Aankhon Ka” in Thamma. Speaking on the matter, he said, “Item songs were included in the film very naturally, and if you see the cut of the songs in the film and the cut of the song on YouTube, it is very different. In the films, it is kind of a background shot.”

He added, “If you look at the song in the film Thamma, Nora is in the background. But if you are watching the song on YouTube, you will feel that it is a full-fledged item song.”

When asked about Nora playing a character in Thamma, as opposed to her appearance in Stree, where she just appeared in the song, Kaushik hinted at the possibility of casting a cricketer in his future films. “Nora was everywhere. There are many such characters. Some cricketer can also come in the film, and you will think that he is a cricketer, but he will turn out to be a Betaal. If any cricketer wants to act then let me know.”
