Reality TV star, social media sensation, celebrity talk show host, singer and actress Shehnaaz Gill is all set for her next big thing- Thank You for Coming. After appearing in a few music videos and Punjabi films, Shehnaaz was last seen in Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and now she’s excited that she’s a part of a fun film with an all-women star-cast including Bhumi Pedkekar, Kusha Kapila, Dolly Singh and Shibani Bedi. She says that being a part of this stellar cast has taught her the true meaning of freedom.

Shehnaaz, in this interview with indianexpress.com, opens up about how her life has been ever since she exited reality TV show Bigg Boss 13 and coming to terms with the death of Siddharth Shukla, as she reveals that people still ask her “don’t you regret your mistakes?” Shehnaaz says, she’s learnt from them and is very proud of her journey, her evolution.

Expressing her joy of being shown in an ultra glamorous avatar in Karan Boolani’s directorial, Shehnaaz says, “Working on Thank You For Coming has been like a party for me. I feel like I went to a party where I dressed really pretty. The outfits I wore in this film… I remember how I am wearing disco ball earrings in a song, it was the best. I have never felt so beautiful before, all my looks (in the film) are very hot. You’ll really have fun watching us. I am perfect in the film (chuckles). I have so many camera-facing scenes, so I am very happy.”

“I feel Reha Kapoor ne itni mehnat kar di hai na mere pe (Producer of the film, Rhea Kapoor has worked so hard on me), the way no one else could. After this if someone even tried to style me they’ll think how to compete with what was done with me in Thank You For Coming,” she adds.

Shehnaaz candidly opened up about how she felt a sense of sisterhood in a work space for the very first time. She says, “After the film promotions end, we don’t know where each one of us will be, I don’t know if I’ll ever get to experience this again. You don’t get the opportunity to work on such projects too often. All the women I worked with in Thank You For Coming are very secure and successful women, they come from a space they have built for themselves. I really felt the feeling of sisterhood with them. I have felt that genuine connection with each of the girls and I know we would be there for one another, just a phone call away.”

Shehnaaz’s journey to fame has been in the public eye, ever since she stood out on Bigg Boss 13. The actor has also been quite candid in her interaction with fans on social media. She is proud of her journey, and says while she is asked at every step if ‘she regrets her mistakes’, her stock answer is ‘why should I?’

“People pull you down by saying things like, ‘you have made this mistake, you don’t feel regret?’ Why should I regret making any mistakes? I have learnt from my mistakes and gone ahead in life. I feel whatever I have done in my life and whatever has happened to me — good or bad — it’s been good for me because without it I wouldn’t have matured so much in life. So, even if in the future something happens to me, it’s ok, I am brave, I’ll only learn something from it. Today I am ready to face anything that my future has for me — may it be acchha or musibat (good or difficult), I’ll keep learning, that’s how I have decided to live my life.”

Shehnaaz adds that she continuously feels the need to experience change in order to grow.

“Change is very important in your life, if you stay the same then people will get bored, hamesha change do logon ko (offer a change to people). That way people take an interest in you, they look forward to ‘yeh naya kya karegi?’ (what will she do next?), it’s important. I know people who say ‘humein aise hi rehna hai’ (we want to stay this way only) then I can’t connect with those kind of people,” Shehnaaz concludes.
