Actor Rakul Preet Singh gave a fierce answer to a question asking if her family expects her to dress differently now that she is a married woman. The actor said that times have changed and people can now wear whatever they want to wear.
Rakul, who married Jackky Bhagnani on February 21, spoke to NDTV on the sidelines of the recently held Lakme Fashion Week 2024 about life after marriage.
When asked about any expectations from families to change her fashion statements, Rakul said, “No, I have been very, very blessed with both my family and Jackky’s family. I think we in Indian society make a big deal about marriage, and I would like to say that it is a natural process in anyone’s life. Will you ask a guy to dress a certain way after marriage? Like ‘Office tum bilkul chandni wala kam pehen ke jana (Wear the most shimmery outfit to your office)’. No, right? Times have changed, and everyone does whatever they like.”
Rakul and Jackky had a grand wedding in Goa after dating for over three years. Several celebrities attended their wedding festivities in Goa. The guest list included Shahid Kapoor and Mira Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and others.
The couple has maintained a low profile, keeping their relationship away from the limelight until they got married. They announced their wedding with a social media post captioned, “Mine now and forever 21-02-2024 #abdonobhagna-ni”
Earlier in an interview with India Today, Rakul had spoken about leading a normal relationship with Jackky and not letting personal and professional life cross paths in any way.
She said, “I was single for the longest time, but having a partner is a very natural process. Unfortunately, there is a lot of speculation if you are a part of the film industry. But at the core, we are all human beings who crave emotional compatibility and dependency. Even though I’m a very independent girl, there are days when I just want to rant to Jackky on my off days. But he understands my professional space since he belongs to the same industry and that lets me be very vulnerable with him as a woman. Having that emotional balance impacts what I do professionally.”
Several Bollywood colleagues and friends such as Ajay Devgn, Neena Gupta, Nayanthara, Siddharth, Alia Bhatt and more congratulated the newlywed couple on their big day.
