On Sunday, soon after the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 title — RCB’s first-ever T20 title across both WPL and the Indian Premier League (IPL) — the entire nation hailed the team for his monumental victory, with many taking to streets to celebrate this feat. The team, led by Smriti Mandhana, defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 8 wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Celebs from Hindi and Kannada industries have congratulated the RBC women’s cricket team for lifting the WPL 2024 trophy and expressed their support for the team. “Mind-blowing. Mind-blowing RCB,” wrote Aly Goni, while Baalveer actress Anushka Sen posted Smriti Mandhana’s photo holding the cup, on her Instagram Story and wrote, “Queennzzz 2024 @smriti_madhana”

Kannada TV actress Shwetha Chengappa, wrote, “Wow! What a victory!” TV and film actor from Kannada and Tullu entertainment industries, Shine Shetty, also shared a photo of the RCB team on his handle and wrote, “Congratulations, sisters”.

Divya Uruduga said she was proud of their victory and wrote, “What a victory man! soooo proud of you girlsssss congratulations. Antu inthu e sala cup Namduuu Jai RCB (sic).” Actress Anushree called the win a perfect gift to the late actor Puneeth, whose birth anniversary was celebrated on March 27. Along with the team’s photo holding the cup, she wrote, “Girls are strong guru … Strong guru …. Our Appu sang … These our girls proved it!!!!! Best Birthday Gift to Powerstar @puneethrajkumar.official sir (sic).”

A week ago, Shank Tank’s Vineeta Singh, along with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Masaba Gupta, and Indian boxer Mary Kom were seen enjoying the match between DC and RCB in Delhi and cheering on the women cricketers. “Weekend pe WPL dekha? What a close game! What inspiring fight by both teams! Savoured the coming together of two things I’m passionate about last night!,” Vineeta captioned a post featuring fun pictures on social media.

The Sugar Cosmetics’ CEO hailed women playing sports adding “First is women’s sports.”  “Girls who grow up playing sports become women who lead. Playing sports builds resilience and self confidence – all that women need to succeed at anything!,” she wrote, stressing that “Being a woman is hard and before anyone else, WE must be each others’ greatest cheerleaders – and not just on Women’s Day. Thousands of women took time out from their responsibilities to show up today for the women on the field.”

Encouraging women in sports and the women’s team playing at WPL and women in general she commented,  “Talking about women’s sports and talking about women in general, our time has come! Yeh toh bas shuruaat hai.”

It was erroneously reported that Rang De Basanti actor Siddharth had also reacted to RCB’s WPL win at WPL in this story. We regret the error.
