After offering a glimpse of the film with the release of the music video for the song “Zamaana Lage”, the makers of Metro In Dino trailer was on Wednesday, giving a detailed look into the highly-anticipated multi-starrer. Directed by Anurag Basu, the film stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ali Fazal, and Fatima Sana Shaikh in lead roles. It follows four different love stories of couples — young, old, and middle-aged — living in a metro, and serves as the spiritual sequel to Anurag Basu’s 2007 film Life in a… Metro.
The film pairs Sara Ali Khan and Aditya Roy Kapur as one of the couples, followed by Konkona Sen Sharma and Pankaj Tripathi. Saswata Chatterjee, Neena Gupta, and Anupam Kher are part of a complicated love arc. Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh’s characters are also involved in a romantic storyline.
The trailer begins with glimpses of everyday life in Mumbai, intercut with the emotional highs and lows of each couple’s relationship, all tied together by Pritam poignant background score and Papon’s soulful voice. Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh portray a young couple grappling with an unexpected pregnancy, while Neena Gupta and Anupam Kher are seen trying to rekindle their lost romance, defying stereotypes associated with old age. Konkona Sen Sharma and Pankaj Tripathi play a middle-aged couple watching their love fade slowly, as they struggle to find ways to reconnect. Aditya Roy Kapur plays a ‘commitment-phobic man-child’ who falls for Sara Ali Khan’s character, who is engaged to someone else. Overall, the trailer promises the film to be a fun, emotionally intense, and heartwarming ride.
Anurag Basu, who is known for his films like Barfi, Life in a… Metro, Ludo, and Jagga Jasoos, earlier shared details about the film. He said, “Metro In Dino is a tale of the people and for the people! The storyline is very fresh and relevant as I look forward to collaborating with amazing artists who bring that essence of contemporary aura with them. As music plays a very important role in any film, I couldn’t be happier to be collaborating with my dear friend Pritam who has literally added life to the characters and story with his work.”
Metro… In Dino marks the final chapter of Anurag Basu’s trilogy of hyperlinked cinema after Life in a… Metro and Ludo. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar, and the film’s music is composed by Pritam, who also gave the music for Basu’s Life in a… Metro.
Metro… In Dino is set to release on July 4.
