Actor-comedian Kapil Sharma went through a difficult phase in life in 2017 when he fought alcoholism and suicidal thoughts. He dealt with several health issues at the time and even made some impulsive tweets, one of which was even addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. While people were busy writing off his career, his ladylove, Ginni Chatrath stood by him and helped him recover from the worst phase of his life. Now, Ginni makes sure her husband doesn’t post anything inappropriate on social media, especially after drinking, which might affect his standing among his fans.

Recently, Kapil appeared on the TV show Aap Ki Adalat where he revealed that sometimes Ginni takes away his phone when he starts drinking at night. He shared, “Roz 10 baje ke baad toh nahi, jab kabhi kabhi mere 11.30 bajte hain na, toh fir vo..vo sayani hai na, usko pata hai phir kuch panga kar dega.. (She doesn’t take my phone after 10 pm daily. But whenever I sit down at 11.30 pm [hinting at the time when he made the infamous drunk tweet to PM Modi]) she takes my phone. She is smart. She knows I might make some mistake again)”.

However, Kapil also shared that he has stopped posting his opinions on social media. He accepted that earlier he was in the habit of expressing his views on anything and everything.

“Now I do not post on social media..haan pehle aise kar deta tha… pehle merko har baat mein ghusne ki aadat thi. I used to comment on every issue. I expressed my opinions without anyone asking for them, sometimes you invite trouble for yourself. But now there is a lot of change in me, after two children, you get a sense of responsibility. After a few years, my kids will start reading what’s there on Twitter, vo sochenge humara baap aisa hai? (They will wonder what sort of man is our father),” shared Kapil, who will be next seen in Nandita Das’ film Zwigato.

During the same interview, Kapil said that his wife Ginni has stayed with him like a shadow throughout the tough phase of his life. Ginni and Kapil got married on December 12, 2018, in Jalandhar. They have two children, daughter Anayra and son Trishaan.
