Shah Rukh Khan‘s son Aryan Khan went through an ordeal when he was arrested in a drug case. At that time, it was Juhi Chawla who signed a Rs 1 lakh bond for his release. In a recent chat, Juhi said that she believed it was the “right thing” to do.
Aryan has since been acquitted of the charges. Juhi told News18, “We didn’t know it was coming. But when all came down to that moment when I could help, I thought it was the right thing for me to do – to be there for him.”
Juhi also mentioned that she rarely gets to see Shah Rukh these days but her husband Jay Mehta is always in touch with him. “One will not believe but I rarely get to see him. Jay is more in touch with him than I am. But yes, we do keep in touch.”
Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan are co-owners of KKR and in a recent IPL match, the title track from Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani played at the stadium and Juhi described it as a “momentous” occasion.
She said, “I was telling Shah Rukh that I had no idea that 23 years after its release, this song would be playing at such a momentous occasion at an iconic stadium! I told him, ‘Arre yaar, agar pata hota (If we knew) that people will remember the film, I would have done some things differently!’ But, he said, ‘It’s playing today because it struck a chord with the audience. It came from a place of innocence and that’s the best part.’”
Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani wasn’t a very successful film when it released but found takers over the years. The songs, however, were popular at that time. The film was produced by the two stars under their now-defunct banner Dreamz Unlimited. The two are now partners in Red Chillies Entertainment.
